2D to 3D PROOF OF CONCEPT

Objective

This three-month Proof of Concept (POC) is designed to help precast producers evaluate the transition from AutoCAD-based workflows to Revit + EDGE. The program demonstrates how a model-driven approach improves speed, accuracy, and collaboration across detailing, engineering, and production—while minimizing disruption to ongoing work.

Month 1 – Setup & Training

  • Complimentary onboarding and live remote training for detailers/engineers (Revit + EDGE basics).
  • Import of sample or live project data from AutoCAD.
  • Establish standards: templates, families, and ticket formats.
  • Kickoff meeting to align goals and success criteria.

Month 2 – Live Modeling & Workflow Testing

  • Create representative precast elements (panels, tees, stairs, etc.) using EDGE tools.
  • Generate shop tickets and drawings automatically, benchmarked against AutoCAD outputs.
  • Test workflows for design → production → erection.
  • Regular check-ins for Q&A and technical support.

Month 3 – Review & Validation

  • Evaluate efficiency gains and error reduction compared to AutoCAD.
  • Document findings from detailers, engineers, and production staff.
  • Present cost/time savings scenarios for scaling adoption.
  • Final review meeting with recommendations for next steps.

Conclusion

The three-month POC offers a low-risk, high-value way for producers to validate Revit + EDGE. With complimentary training and automation built into the tools, the transition is accelerated, the time burden on staff is minimized, and producers gain firsthand evidence of improved efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration.
